A Guide for Owners of New Pets

Welcome to True Care. We look forward to ensuring long quality of life! True Care offers wellness plans which establish recommended yearly preventive measures, as well as allowing us yearly screening to assess for health and disease detection.

Before Your Visit

If you have a new puppy or kitten, please forward any prior veterinary care given to our office before the first visit. We will often schedule the first visit based on when the next vaccination(s) are due. Of-course, you are always welcome to come in prior to the next scheduled vaccines as an initial contact examination. Please provide us with an email address and we can send along to you copies of our Welcome Packet and Puppy or Kitten Wellness plans for you to review.

If your pet is coming for a medical visit, one of our staff will ask you some basic questions relating to the medical complaint, as well as your pets current routine at home. After the examination is performed, the doctor will then discuss what appropriate testing/treatments should be performed, or whether you should seek referral care

At True Care, we do not have a waiting room nor examination rooms. Rather, we have consultation rooms. Unless under certain circumstances, most pets will be brought back into our treatment area for an in depth physical assessment. At that time, any due vaccinations and/or testing procedures can be performed. The doctor may visit with you in the consult room without the presence of your pet in order to focus on the conversation.

If during the visit, there are service items (such as a vaccination) or testing items (such as heartworm testing) that you do not wish to have performed, this can be discussed before proceeding. True Care does not perform treatments, vaccinations or procedures without prior consent, unless there is need for emergency resuscitation.

After Your Visit

Before you leave, we ask that you fully understand all of the components of the visit so that there is no confusion. For example, you should understand why we use certain vaccines and where they are administered. If, after you return home, you should need clarification about anything related to your visit, please reach out.

True Care has abandoned the practice of mailing reminder post cards as this proved to be inefficient and wasteful. Instead, on the top of every invoice you receive, the reminders are listed as items and due dates. You can post this in a convenient place and refer to it for your pets reminders.

If you feel your pet is experiencing any difficulties after the visit, please reach out to us. If it is after hours, you may email us.

Keep Your Pet Healthy With Routine Care

A happy home routine goes a long way towards general health and wellbeing. Ensuring that your pets receive the appropriate vaccination for their lifestyles, a balanced diet with fresh water and solid parasite control and prevention will go a long way to ensuring a long, high quality of life. You and True Care can work together to achieve this.
